Baking a sustainable future together

Report

We’re proud to share our Sustainability Report 2024, which highlights how we continue to bake a better future, responsibly and together. Sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do at Poppies Bakeries, and this year we’ve made important progress towards a more responsible and transparent future.

One of the key milestones in 2024 was the validation of our double materiality assessment. This assessment gives us a clear understanding of how sustainability topics affect our business (outside-in) and how our activities impact people and the planet (inside-out).

We also achieved significant results in reducing our footprint. Our Dutch sites and the Ekeby site in Sweden now run entirely on green electricity, leading to a 58% reduction in scope 1 & 2 emissions. We have also successfully achieved the targeted 20% reduction in food loss intensity on two production lines already, well ahead of the 2030 deadline.

Our reporting is now aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), further strengthening our commitment to transparency and accountability. Looking ahead, we have also made a voluntary commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), showing our ambition to align our carbon reduction goals with the 1.5°C pathway.

Even though we are not (yet) CSRD-obliged, we continue to invest in innovations that make a real difference for the environment, our employees, and our customers.
